Sierra Gorda Cabins
Located only 1 kilometer from the center of Jalpan de Serra, Sierra Gorda Cabins were built using bio-construction techniques and materials such as mud, palm, and straw-bales in order to minimize the ecological footprint that is generated through construction, as well as later, when the building is inhabited. Furthermore, these locally-sourced materials provide excellent insulation against the elements.
Rincón de Ojo de Agua Cabins
The Rincon de Ojo de Agua eco-cabins are located in the community of San Juan de los Durán, a 1.5-hour drive from Jalpan de Serra. They are surrounded by oak and pine forests characteristic of the Sierra Madre Oriental.
The community is located far from urban areas and, due to its elevation of 1200 meters, enjoys a temperate climate for the majority of the year.

La Trinidad Cabins
Trinidad is a small community located in one of the most spectacular and remote zones of the Sierra Gorda. It is an indigenous community inhabited by people of the Náhuatl culture, located 14 kilometers from Xilitla. A visit here feels like a journey to the past, when the forests of the Sierra Madre in the Huasteca Potosina region were still wild and untouched. You will find yourself in grand oak and pine forests, as well cloud forests draped by orchids and bromeliads – all true biological treasures. To fully experience the beauty of these forests, you should hike one of the many trails.
Los Sauces Campground
This campground, in addition to space for camping, has two cabins built with local materials, using bio-construction techniques. Each cabin has a space for four people and features composting toilet.
The location of the cabins is unbeatable, surrounded by orange and mango trees on the banks of Ayutla River.

Cuatro Palos Cabins
Cuatro Palos Cabins are located at one of the most spectacular places in the Sierra Gorda. They have a full view of the Cerro de la Media Luna (Half Moon Mountain in Spanish) and sit in the transition zone between high-elevation temperate forests and the arid scrub landscapes of the semi-desert. Here, you will find temperate trees such as oaks, junipers, and pines living side by side with plants of the semi-desert such as yuccas, agaves, and cacti, as well as a diversity of wildlife.
El Naranjo Cabins
The cabin was built in 2016 using eco-construction techniques and locally-sourced materials in order to minimize its environmental impact. It has space for four people, with a double bed on the ground floor and two individual beds in the loft. The bathroom features a composting toilet, a sink, and a shower with hot and cold water.

Las Trancas Campground
The campground has a recently renovated wood and clay cabin that features a composting toilet. It also has an area for camping and a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
It is located within a 30-minute drive of the ex-convent of Bucareli (an unfinished Franciscan building dating to the 19th century, with a number of fascinating relics including a pipe organ that is still in use).
Las Guacamayas Cabin
This is an ideal lodging option for anyone who wants to visit the incredible pit cave, Sótano del Barro. The owners, Don Nabor Arriaga and his family, offer food service and guides that will lead you to the cave.
Those wishing to make this excursion should keep in mind that it begins at approximately 4:00 AM, to allow time for the ascent and to arrive in time to see the military macaws departing from their nests in search of food.

Posada La Misión de Bucareli
Posada La Misión de Bucareli is located only a few blocks from the ex-convent of Bucareli and only a few meters from the Bucareli Mission. This charming inn has eight rooms and a restaurant.
It is a very economical option for staying in Bucareli, a historical mining town with the largest collection of books in Latin in the Sierra Gorda.
