RESPONSIBLE TRAVELER, REDUCE YOUR CO2 FOOTPRINT

Tourism is an activity that generates greenhouse gas emissions due to several factors: fuel consumption in air, land and sea transportation, and energy consumption for all facilities, lodging, food and entertainment. Your trip has a clear impact and to measure it there are online calculators to measure the amount of carbon dioxide emitted and by counting it you can take actions to reduce your carbon footprint and lessen the impact of your trip. By giving preference to destinations with sustainable criteria, public transportation and low-impact services and avoiding single-use plastics you help effectively.

Carbon dioxide emissions are a factor in tourism and you can measure, reduce and offset your carbon footprint with a willingness to contribute to the solution. Carbon Neutral Planet is an initiative of the Sierra Gorda Alliance, a group of non-profit organizations working together to protect one of Latin America’s most ecologically diverse nature reserves, promote respect for the environment, and support individuals in taking actions to minimize their environmental footprint.

Carbon Neutral Planet is a unique project in that it not only gives individuals the opportunity to calculate and offset their carbon footprint but, in doing so, they are protecting vital forests in the Sierra Gorda and working with the owners of highly biodiverse ecosystems to conserve them. In this way, the initiative encompasses three purposes in one: combating climate change, protecting Mexican forests, and helping local communities.
