Day 1

Our activities begin in the old mining town of Pinal de Amoles, nestled high in the mountains.  From there we will go to Cuatro Palos where we will walk to the impressive lookout point at the top of Cerro de la Media Luna.  After enjoying panoramic views, you will be ready to sample a traditional lunch in one of the restaurants from the Flavour Trail.

After lunch, we will visit El Chuvejé Waterfall.  The fall is almost 30 meters tall, it flows into pools of crystalline water, ideal for cooling off on a hot day.  Later we will go to the magical town of Jalpan de Serra in the heart of the Sierra Gorda; where our guide will walk us through the façade of one of the five Franciscan Missions declared World Heritage sites by UNESCO.  You will have free time to explore town and the artisanal shops before the check in at Sierra Gorda Cabins.

Day 2

No better way to start the day than with a breakfast at the Flavour Trail.

Later, we will go to Bucareli to explore the 18th Century Mission and Convent.  If you missed the walk in the morning, there will be time here to walk downriver to enjoy magnificent views.

After touring the town, we will return to Pinal de Amoles for a final stop at another of the local restaurants.

Day 3

We start the day with a delicious breakfast on the Flavour Trail.  Then off to Xilitla, to visit Las Pozas, the Surrealist Sculpture Garden of the eccentric aristocrat, Sir Edward James.  Where the monuments, pools and waterfalls will envelop you in their magic and mystery.  Then we will explore the gastronomy of the Huastec region in the historic town center.

On the way back to Jalpan de Serra we will stop in Landa de Matamoros to visit the Franciscan Mission of Santa Maria de las Aguas de Landa.  Back in Jalpan, there will be free time to rest or to visit the dam or the historic center.

Day 4

After breakfast, we will go enjoy free time the Historic Center of Jalpan de Serra, and try a traditional artisanal snow cone.

Then we will go to Concá where we will visit the Thousand-year-old tree, the natural springs, and the San Miguel Concá Mission.  The smallest of the five Franciscan temples, considered World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.  Its unique façade ties together iconography from different elements of the Pame indigenous group´s worldview.

 

After visiting the community, we will go to Ayutla to rest in the Camping area Los Sauces to enjoy some delicious local cuisine.  The tour ends in Jalpan de Serra.
