Edward James’s Surrealist Gardens, Las Pozas
Created by Edward James, the somewhat eccentric English poet and patron of surrealist art, construction of Las Pozas began in 1962, and continued until James’s death in 1984.

Jalpan Mission
In the main square of the magic town, Jalpan de Serra is Santiago Apóstol’s Mission whose construction began in 1751 and was completed in 1758.
Concá Mission
San Miguel Concá Mission is the smallest of the Sierra Gorda’s missions. It is dedicated to Saint Michael Archangel and its construction was completed in 1754.
Landa Mission
Landa de Matamoros Mission was constructed between 1761 and 1770. Although the identity of the principal architect is unknown, it is believed that construction was done in phases by several Spanish monks.
Tilaco Mission
Located in the town of Tilaco, which sits in a beautiful valley of the same name, this mission is dedicated to Saint Francis of Assisi and was built between 1754 and 1762 by Juan Crespi.
Tancoyol Mission
Located in the northwest corner of the state of Querétaro, Tancoyol has been inhabited by indigenous groups since pre-Hispanic times. The Mission was founded in May of 1744 by Coronel José de Escandón.
Ex-Convent of Bucareli
It is, without a doubt, the most impressive tourist attraction in Pinal de Amoles. Its first-rate historical monuments are set against the backdrop of rugged mountain in the canyon of the Extoraz River.
Tancama Archaeological Site
Located in the valley of Tancama, this site was one of the most important pre-Hispanic settlements of the Sierra Gorda, with more than 42 structures, ranging from mounds and terraces to ball courts that were occupied between 200 and 900 AD.
Tilaco Community Museum
This museum displays a wide range of objects attesting to the historical and cultural heritage of the region. Amongst other curiosities, there are objects of the group that proclaimed itself as the “Mexican Empire” in 1821.
Landa Community Museum
This community museum features farming equipment dating from the 18th century to the 1980s, enabling the visitor to appreciate the evolution of agriculture in the Sierra Gorda.
