Day 1

Meet your local guide in the old mining town of Pinal de Amoles. From there, we will travel to Rancho Tonatico, where we will attend a presentation on organic crop and livestock production. Following the presentation, we will take a walk through the forest to build up our appetite in anticipation of a delicious lunch made from organic ingredients produced on the farm.

We will then continue on to Centro Tierra located in Jalpan de Serra to attend presentations titled “The Alliance for the Conservation of the Sierra Gorda Biosphere Reserve” and “Biodiversity in the Sierra Gorda.”

Following these presentations, you will enjoy dinner and a well-deserved rest.

Day 2

After breakfast in Centro Tierra, we will attend classroom sessions to learn about the Kyoto Protocol and poverty, as well as to listen to a presentation of our innovative solutions, entitled “Local protocol: How to estimate carbon in different types of vegetation and valuable tools for replicating our methods.”

In order to experience the content of the session firsthand, we will visit a forest reserve and practice measuring carbon content. Lunch boxes will be provided in order to maximize our time in the field.

We will then return to Centro Tierra where you will have a chance to relax next to a bonfire and enjoy the sounds of nature, while we serve you dinner.

Day 3

After breakfast in Centro Tierra we will attend a classroom session to analyze the measurements that we obtained the previous day and generate a discussion that will allow us to reach some conclusions.

We will then head to Pinal de Amoles, where we will conclude our journey by enjoying a delicious lunch at Fonda Manzanitas, one of the traditional restaurants along the Flavor Trail. This project has enabled dozens of Sierra Gorda families to renovate their restaurants and improve their living conditions.
