Presa Jalpan Sierra Gorda

THE JALPAN DAM

The Jalpan Dam collects waters of Escanela River that originate in the mountains of Pinal de Amoles. The forests and citrus orchards that surround the dam serve as habitat for a variety of wildlife, particularly migratory aquatic birds that arrive in winter. For this reason, the area has been declared a RAMSAR site, which means that it is a wetland of global importance for birds.

Recommendations

Centro Tierra Cabins are located only 200 meters away and are an excellent place to stay, since they are very quiet and very close to both the dam and the center of Jalpan de Serra. If you are interested in camping, there is a campground at Mundo Acuático, a nearby waterpark and recreational facility.
