Getting There

Jalpan, the geographic center of the Sierra Gorda, is just 3 hours from Santiago de Querétaro or 6 hours from Mexico City, and is easily accessible by car and bus.

From Querétaro?
By Car: Take the road towards Bernal and when you arrive at the Peña Blanca intersection, merge onto Federal Highway 120 (San Juan del Río–Xilitla). Continuing on Highway 120, you will pass through Pinal de Amoles before arriving in Jalpan de Serra.  

By Bus: The Primera Plus bus line has three daily departure times from Querétaro to Jalpan de Serra: 8am, 12pm, and 3pm. To return to Querétaro from Jalpan, there are also three departure times: 5am, 2pm and 5pm.

From México City?
By Car: Take the Mexico-Querétaro Freeway until you reach San Juan del Río. There, take the exit onto Federal Highway 120 towards Tequisquiapan and continue until you reach Jalpan de Serra, passing through the following towns: Ezequiel Montes, Cadereyta, Vizarrón, Peña Blanca, Pinal de Amoles and several other small communities along the way.

By Bus: The Flecha Amarilla bus line has direct service from Mexico City to Jalpan de Serra leaving from the Central de Autobuses del Norte bus station.
